The Mindfulness Paintings Blog will explore creative meditation exercises, mindfulness artwork and mindfulness art activities. Please share your thoughts, ideas and experiences as we journey towards being more mindful as we create. This is a safe place for the inner artist to share, notice and grow in mindfulness.

When I paint I have a lot of things that float in and out of my mind. None of the thoughts cause me sadness or anxiety, though. I’m in this type of flow where I can think about just anything and I remain centered. I can go back and forth between thoughts, and moments in time, with ease.
I paint what was once our sacred space. We began here, we celebrated here, and we made dreams here. I keep going back and forth within this space, expecting to find something but finding nothing. All that “was” is now lost. Now it’s an empty shell: with the people gone, it has lost all its meaning. I see that I’m chasing ghosts. This doesn’t upset me. I just realize it and keep on painting. I stay in the moment, and do my best to be mindful of what new things I am learning about myself. Painting helps me make sense of the most confusing and challenging things.
I’d love to know about the ways art making helps you stay mindful even in the most confusing and challenging moments. Do you have a creative tool or process that helps you be more aware? I’d love it even more if you read this blog and decided that it was time to make something: something to help you be present, create, and just be in the flow. Neither of us has to worry about judging what we make. We can just be present, go where “creating” takes us, and enjoy being in the flow together.
