I love my Purple Pickle Painting! It’s not really pickles. It’s milkweed. I just don’t care if I stick to the rules. There are so many places where we have to worry about other people’s feelings, fitting in and following the rules. These are real concerns, but they often take up a lot of space in our heads and they can weigh us down. We all need a place where we can be free of these more weighty considerations. Painting is that place for me, and I want other people to discover their “Painting Place” too. When you pick up a paintbrush, no one ever has to see what you create. You can make marks and you can make choices that simply please you. My goal isn’t to teach people how to paint. What I’m passionate about is helping people experience the freedom of painting while being in a place I like to call the “Mindfulness Painting Zone.” This is a place where you can let your thoughts be what they are. You can notice what you think and feel. However, the noises of life get a little quieter as you move paint across a surface. Worries feel a little less powerful as you pick a color and make a stroke with your brush. You are fully in the present moment and in that moment you are painting! I hope this blog will be a place of encouragement for everyone who has a desire to paint. You may be an artist, you may be afraid to draw a stick figure, or you may be somewhere in between? Regardless, you can experience the freedom of Mindfulness Painting. If you have encouragement for others, or insights into mindfulness that will help others get into the “Mindfulness Painting Zone,” please share here at the Mindfulness Paintings Blog. Together we can discover and release the power of Mindfulness Painting.
